Spell level: cleric 5
Innate level: 5
School: transmutation
Descriptor: mind-affecting negative
Components: verbal, somatic
Range: short personal
Area of effect: large medium (3.33 meter radius)
Duration: 1 round / level
Save: no will
Spell resistance: yes
Description: You create an aura that steals energy from your enemies. Your enemies suffer a -2 circumstance penalty on saving throws, attack rolls, and damage rolls, once entering the aura. On casting, you gain a +2 circumstance bonus to your saves, attack rolls, and damage rolls.
Notes[]
- Requires Hordes of the Underdark.
- Contrary to the in-game description, the descriptor is implemented as "negative".
- The bonus damage (reported as magical damage) is from a damage increase effect, so it ignores both damage resistance and damage immunity.
- The penalty to damage rolls only reduces magical damage. If the affected creature does not deal magical damage in its attacks, there will be no change to the damage dealt.
- The bonus to attack provided by this spell counts towards the +20 attack bonus cap.
- Hostile creatures entering the aura get a will saving throw to resist the penalty. This penalty is removed upon exiting the aura.
- A single caster can have multiple battletide auras (with non-stacking bonuses), which operate like any other overlapping areas of effect (e.g. opponents would try to resist each aura individually).
- This spell is subject to the mobile area of effect bug, in which an area of effect can lag behind the character it is attached to, allowing that character to actually exit the area of effect if moving fast enough. This results in the spell ending prematurely. (A fix for this is available on the Vault[1].)
