This CEP 2.0 file list describes the files included in version 2.0 of the Community Expansion Pack (CEP).
Talk table[]
CEP 2.0 comes with the talk table cep2_v1.tlk
, which belongs in the tlk
subdirectory of a Neverwinter Nights installation. A module that requires CEP 2.0 should use this talk table.
Hak paks[]
The hak paks included in CEP 2.0 belong in the hak
subdirectory of a Neverwinter Nights installation. Some of these hak paks are optional for individual modules, but a player should have all of them available. The hak paks are organized into the required "top" hak (containing most .2da data), the optional "additional" (or "add") haks, and the required "core" haks.
For module builders, there is some flexibility in the order of these hak paks when associated with a module, but there are also some aspects of the order that are required. The basic guideline is that the "core" haks go at the bottom, then whatever "additional" haks are desired go next, with the "top" hak on top of everything. In addition, numbered haks must be in order with the lowest number towards the bottom of the list. In practice, this means a builder can add the "top" hak to a module, then add the remaining "cep2_" haks in alphabetical, reverse-numeric order (skipping any "add" haks that are not wanted). This gives the order in the following table (which is also the sample order given in the CEP 2.0 documentation).
file name | description |
---|---|
cep2_top_v1.hak | .2da files; required |
cep2_add_phenos2.hak | riding and flying phenotypes; optional, but if one is used, then both must be used |
cep2_add_phenos1.hak | |
cep2_add_sb_v1.hak | additional scripts and blueprints; optional |
cep2_add_tiles.hak | the six BioWare tilesets released as a separate download with the 1.67 patch; optional |
cep2_core5.hak | core CEP content (models, sounds, and portraits); required |
cep2_core4.hak | |
cep2_core3.hak | |
cep2_core2.hak | |
cep2_core1.hak |
The two phenotype hak paks were designed so that they should in theory be usable on their own (without any other CEP hak paks). This is untested though and not supported by CEP. In addition, this might not work if Neverwinter Nights has been patched to version 1.69 or if CEP has been patched to version 2.1.
A stated intent of the "core" haks was to group the base CEP content in packages that did not exceed around 300 megabytes and 15,000 resources. This could allow future versions of CEP to release smaller updates consisting of a new "core" hak plus a new "top" hak. (These intentions were dropped by the time version 2.1 was released though.)
Builder files[]
Included in CEP 2.0 are files that are only useful to module builders. The .mod file belongs in the modules
subdirectory of a Neverwinter Nights installation, and the .erf files in the erf
subdirectory. The remaining file is documentation and can be placed wherever convenient.
file name | description |
---|---|
cep2_bluept_v1.erf | blueprints from cep2_add_sb_v1.hak , for importing into a module if desired and if not using that hak pak
|
cep2_scripts_v1.erf | scripts from cep2_add_sb_v1.hak , for importing into a module if desired and if not using that hak pak
|
cepv2_starter_module.mod | a nearly empty module that is already associated with the CEP hak paks and talk table |
CEPv2Docs.pdf | CEP 2.0 installation and usage information |
