Creatures are what make the Neverwinter Nights world go around. Creatures move the action forward and influence events.
In the NWN Toolset creatures can be anything from Humans to Rats. It is the all encompassing term for all things living, autonomous and undead, both magical and common, in the Neverwinter Nights universe.
Creatures can be hostile, friendly, or indifferent towards the Player Character, depending on the PC's alignment, race, faction, etc. They can be found in sprawling cities, secluded mountainous areas, or vast caverns deep within the earth.
