Type of feat: class (given based on class levels)
Prerequisite: dwarven defender 2 (5, 10)
Specifics: There are three versions of this feat with cumulative benefits.
(1): The character retains his dexterity bonus to AC, even if caught flat-footed or attacked by a hidden or invisible creature.
(2): The character can no longer be flanked, since he can react to opponents on opposite sides of him as easily as he can react to a single attack.
(3): The character gains an intuitive sense that alerts him to danger from traps, giving a +1 bonus to reflex saves made to avoid traps.
Use: automatic
Notes[]
- Requires Hordes of the Underdark.
- The inability to be flanked, granted by defensive awareness (2), is extremely powerful in that it makes a character immune to sneak attacks whenever he is attacking something. However, this immunity is only effective while attacking — if the character stops attacking (such as when he can no longer reach his current target), he becomes subject to sneak attacks again. It also does not make the dwarven defender immune to sneak attacks from unseen opponents.
