* Despite the feat's description, Harper Scout favored enemies do improve to +2 on Harper scout level 5. For characters that are both ranger and Harper scout, it is critical to distinguish which class selected the racial type as the favored enemy when leveling up, as the the level of that class will determine the bonus against that racial type.

* Favored enemies are implemented as [[bonus feat]]s. Thus a favored enemy can be chosen whenever the class in question gets a bonus feat, and any bonus feat (whose prerequisites are met) can be chosen whenever a class is said to choose an additional favored enemy. (However, the non-epic alternatives consist solely of [[curse song]] for the Harper scout and [[greater spell focus]] for the ranger.)
* Though all favored enemy feats can be avoided by ranger and Harper scout (by taking other bonus feats instead), the lack of feasible alternatives in the pre-epic levels strongly direct the player to choosing at least one of these feats.
+
* The bonuses are independent of the number of favored enemies. The bonus improves by +1 every fifth level, not for every favored enemy feat. Class levels do not stack for this; the bonus against favored enemies chosen on ranger levels depends on ranger level, while the bonus against favored enemies chosen on Harper levels depends on Harper level. (Similarly for other classes, should custom content make this feat available to them.)

Ife racehate

Type of feat: class
Prerequisite: ranger, Harper scout 1

Specifics: The character gains a +1 bonus to any damage delivered to his favored enemy. He also receives a +1 bonus on listen, spot, and taunt checks against the favored enemy. These bonuses improve by +1 for every 5 levels that the ranger gains, but they do not improve for the Harper.

Use: automatic. The ranger may choose additional favored enemies every 5 levels. A Harper scout only chooses one more at level 5.

class level 1 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40
bonus +1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6 +7 +8 +9

Notes Edit

  • When a favored enemy is gained, the player selects a race to be that favored enemy. There are 24 favored enemy races available; of the 25 standard races, only ooze cannot be selected.
  • Favored enemies are implemented as bonus feats. Thus a favored enemy can be chosen whenever the class in question gets a bonus feat, and any bonus feat (whose prerequisites are met) can be chosen whenever a class is said to choose an additional favored enemy. (However, the non-epic alternatives consist solely of curse song for the Harper scout and greater spell focus for the ranger.)
  • The bonuses are independent of the number of favored enemies.
    • Harper scout bonuses do improve to +2 at Harper scout level 5, despite the feat's description.
    • Non-player characters will use their full hit dice to determine the bonus, rather than a particular class level.
  • In the pen and paper (3.0) version, any creature immune to critical hits is also immune to the damage bonus from this feat. However, NWN does not have this limitation.
