Notes[]
- Added in the expansion packs.
- Under the "Normal" and easier difficulty settings, the petrification lasts one round per caster level when the target is a player character. Under the harder settings, and always for non-player characters, the petrification is permanent (although, as usual, all spell effects are removed when the caster rests).
- A creature whose appearance is one without flesh — or is that of a basilisk, cockatrice, medusa, or gorgon — is immune to this ability, excluding custom content appearances. (Examples of flesh-less appearances include most golems, all elementals, shadows, and skeletons. Most other skeletal appearances are also immune, with the notable exception of the normal lich.)
- While the only way to specifically remove the petrification effect is with the stone to flesh spell, one can kill then raise some victims (in particular, player characters), as this removes all effects.
