Special abilities Edit

An ochre jelly is immune to critical hits, fear, knockdown, level drain, ability drain, mind-affecting spells, paralysis, poison, and sneak attacks. It has permanent true seeing.

The large ochre jelly's attack has a 5% chance of triggering an on-hit effect that will paralyze its target for 5 rounds if a DC 14 saving throw is failed.

Ochre jellies may split into two smaller jellies when they are physically attacked or targeted by certain spells (specifically hammer of the gods, storm of vengeance, or the electrical spells ball lightning, chain lightning, electric jolt, Gedlee's electric loop, great thunderclap, or lightning bolt). Large jellies will always split into small ones under these conditions, but small jellies will only split (into tiny ones) if the game difficulty setting is "normal" or harder (tiny jellies never split). When an ochre jelly splits, its hit points are split between the new creatures (more precisely, the new creatures are damaged as needed – but always at least by one – to bring their hit point total down to half the originating creature's total).

Notes Edit

  • Added in patch 1.67, courtesy of the Pirates of the Sword Coast premium module.
  • Splitting an ochre jelly doubles the available ichor, as each creature drops an ichor, regardless of jelly size.
  • A bug in the script nw_ochrejelly_osc causes this creature to run a standard OnDamaged event handler (x2_def_ondamage) during the OnSpellCastAt event.
