Type of feat: combat (general feat) (epic)
Prerequisite: 21st level, strength 23+, cleave, great cleave, improved critical (chosen weapon), power attack
Required for: devastating critical
Specifics: When using the weapon chosen, the character deals +1d6 points of damage on a successful critical hit. If the weapon's critical multiplier is x3, add +2d6 and if the multiplier is x4, add 3d6.
Use: automatic
Notes[]
- Requires Hordes of the Underdark.
- Most NWN manuals state that weapon focus is a prerequisite, but it is not.
- This feat stacks with any massive critical item property on a weapon (including that obtained from thundering rage).
- The number of extra dice rolled does not match the feat's description.
- There is an additional 1d6 rolled – this feat adds +2d6 for a x2 multiplier, +3d6 for x3, and +4d6 for x4.
- Only 1d6 is rolled if ki damage is used for an attack, regardless of the critical multiplier. This results in less average damage for a critical hit (by 1 for a x2 multiplier, more for higher multipliers). So a weapon master could average more damage by not using ki damage in situations where critical hits are frequent enough (based on the threat range).
- This feat does not account for a weapon master's increased multiplier; a kukri (normally a x2 weapon) will still get a +2d6 bonus from this feat, even when it has a x3 multiplier in the hand of a weapon master.
- The creature weapon variant of this feat is non-functional; the unarmed strike variant is used with creature weapons (or any other natural weapon).
- Weapons with the no combat damage property do not benefit from overwhelming critical.
