Fear |
---|
1: scare 3: fear (spell) |
Spell level: bard 1; cleric 1; sorcerer/wizard 1
Innate level: 1
School: necromancy
Descriptor: fear
Components: verbal, somatic
Range: short (8 meters)
Area of effect: single
Duration: 1d4 rounds
Save: will negates
Spell resistance: yes
Additional counterspells: remove fear
Description: A target creature with 5 hit dice or less is afflicted with fear and suffers a -2 morale check to attack, damage and saving rolls.
Notes[]
- The "-2 morale check" is applied separately from the frightened status, and consequently is not removed by remove fear, nor blocked by mind-affecting immunity. Due to a bug, if the target is immune to fear these penalties will be applied automatically without a saving throw.
- The penalty to saving throws is only for will saves versus mind-affecting, but does not stack with the -2 penalty to all saving throws inherent to the frightened status.
- The penalty to damage rolls only reduces magical damage. If the affected creature does not deal magical damage in its attacks, there will be no change to the damage dealt.
- This spell is actually an implementation of the pencil-and-paper Dungeons & Dragons spell cause fear. In pencil-and-paper, scare is a second level version of this spell, with an area of effect affecting multiple targets.
- Due to a .2da bug, scare is not an additional counterspell of remove fear.
