Description: The caster conjures a shadow variant of one of the following spells: cone of cold, fireball, stoneskin, wall of fire, or summon shadow.
Notes[]
- "Shadow variant" has no real meaning in Neverwinter Nights; the spells cast via shades are identical to their "normal" versions, except they have a different spell level. This includes the spell school with regards to considerations such as spell focus and arcane defense. (The subspells that allow a saving throw are all in the evocation school.) In particular, the innate level of each variant is the innate level of the corresponding "normal" spell (5 for cone of cold, 3 for fireball, and 4 for stoneskin, wall of fire, and summon shadow).
- One advantage of this spell is having five spells combined into one. For sorcerers, this effectively increases the number of spells known. For wizards, this provides the ability to select which spell to cast at the time of casting.
- The stoneskin subspell does not remove earlier castings of itself (but will remove an earlier casting of regular stoneskin), so it is possible to have multiple castings of this subspell operate concurrently on a target. (The damage reduction does not stack, and only one instance of the spell will be depleted with each hit.)
