Damage[]

This spell deals the greatest damage from any spells in NWN if the caster can wait. In conjuction with Bigby's grasping hand, when extended by a level 40 caster, player can count with the damage output of 960-1520. 77.92.213.119 20:43, February 15, 2014 (UTC)

Perhaps, but because of damage reduction (in addition to resistance) physical damage is one of the easier to negate. Take ethereal visage which lasts just as long and negates all damage, or shadow shield which negates more than half the damage. Or look at permanent damage reduction from many shifter forms, or monk's perfect self (which also completely negates the stun). Then turn your focus from player builds to a large percent of the monsters which have damage reduction already. Even if it were the minimum damage reduction item property (5/+1) it still will cut the damage by almost a third on average, enough to push creeping doom into the lead. Creeping doom? That has a cap limiting it to around 1000 damage. Try an extended death armor. Even at a mediocre 3 incoming attacks per round, with misses on 1s, there are 80*3*95%=228 strikes that produce 6-9 damage each, and that damage often cannot be resisted. That's a total of 1368-2052 damage per attacker. (If you ignore damage resistance, you can of course go to Mestil's acid sheath, which deals 18k-19k damage with these assumptions.) Sure, there are questions of the caster surviving that long, but technically that does not reduce the damage potential of the spell. --The Krit (talk) 06:24, February 16, 2014 (UTC)
I had factored the 1000 cap in for creeping doom. As stated when an extended Bigby's clenched fist is applied against 5/+1 damage reduction and when creeping doom is applied against 5/+1 damage reduction for a single creature remaining in it from its inception (the original proposal for Bigby's clenched fist was to use Bigby's grasping hand to keep the target stationary for this duration), creeping doom will on average deal more damage. Sure, the cap is not a problem when comparing creeping doom to Bigby's under the assumption of damage reduction. My intended point was that the cap forces you to assume damage reduction in order for creeping doom to come out on top. (Someone looking for "greatest damage" might not be interested in situational considerations like that.) In contrast, even the weakest damage shield easily tops Bigby's without situational considerations (other than assuming your enemy will be attacking with a melee weapon, which tends to happen with alarming frequency:)). --The Krit (talk) 00:17, February 17, 2014 (UTC)
