I'd like to propose merging this into darkness (spell) as the only difference (as far as a player is concerned) is that the caster level of the shifter ability is fixed at 6. --The Krit 15:26, January 7, 2010 (UTC)
- There is another difference in that this spell has a different spell ID and thus the item property immunity to darkness does not grant the required immunity (Similar case with the feat). Also a caster with the darkness spell cannot quickslot darkness from the spell book and cast it in the drider/drow form. (This can be done with burning hands in Azer, ice storm, mestil's acid breath, and dispel magic in Rakshasa, and invisibility in the will-o'-wisp polymorph (unavailable to shifters)). While the duration for darkness here is 6 rounds, there technically are not 6 caster levels behind it (as is apparent for dispelling the darkness invisibility from another creature). - That's interesting. Is the quickslotting part mentioned anywhere in the wiki? --The Krit 01:34, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
- I put in a paragraph for it in shifted ability. WhiZard 15:42, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
- I'll have to read that article soon. (I only skimmed it so far.) --The Krit 18:15, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
Specific Spell Immunity[]
The immunity used for this spell corresponds to it's spell ID (688 not SPELL_DARKNESS). Because the ability does a spell resistance check any immunity (not absorption) that includes evocation or the specific spell 688 will grant immunity. The specific immunity to the typical spell (SPELL_DARKNESS) does not do this. WhiZard 15:45, January 29, 2010 (UTC)
