Pointless? Edit

Isn't this feat completely and utterly pointless? It requires 25 Concentration and Combat Casting to even get, and becomes useless if you have 23 Concentration, with Combat Casting. Am I missing something? This seems even worse than Dirty Fighting. -- 2 January 2009

  • Isn't this explained in the second note? This feat allows casting without attacks of opportunity while using a combat mode other than defensive casting. (Examples of other combat modes: dirty fighting :P and expertise) --The Krit 04:14, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
  • It also allows you to use Epic Dodge while casting without wasting it on the first AoO that could miss anyways, at least assuming I'm not mistaken on assuming that Epic Dodge can fire off on an AoO triggered by spellcasting (and assuming a spellcaster goes through the trouble of getting the feat in the first place). -- 02:28, 8 January 2012
  • There is no AoO when using defensive casting mode, so epic dodge concerns are not applicable to this question (which compares defensive casting to improved combat casting). It is not in question whether or not provoking attacks of opportunity is bad (it almost always is), but whether it is worth taking this feat to avoid provoking them, given that the feat's prerequisites already allow one to avoid provoking them by using defensive casting mode. --The Krit 18:47, January 11, 2012 (UTC)
  • The feat is useful for a healer cleric who often needs to run in the middle of the action and doesn't always have the time to turn on defensive casting mode. --Moton the Duck 14:34, March 31, 2012 (UTC)
