Duration[]
The description is incorrect, its 1 round per 2 level ILKAY 04:19, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- How do we know the description is incorrect and not the script? Maybe the duration is supposed to be 1 round / level. All the D&D 3.0 documentation I can find says the duration should be 1 unit / level, although the unit varies. Thanubis 22:07, November 8, 2011 (UTC)
- True, determining BioWare's intent might be a difficult task, but then again there are no claims as to what is "supposed" to be the duration. The description states that the duration is 1 round per level. The spell actually lasts 1 round per 2 levels. Regardless of which, if either, is intended, the discrepancy is there, which makes the spell description an incorrect specification of what actually happens. I suppose we could find a way to drop the word "incorrect", if that is what you are objecting to. --The Krit 22:36, November 8, 2011 (UTC)
- Your latest edit looks good. Honestly though, I was more concerned about which should be fixed in a patch (PW server), the description (dialog.tlk) or the script (nw_s0_mscharm). I personally think the script is at error here. Thanubis 23:44, November 8, 2011 (UTC)
- So you were really trying to start a new question than reply to ILKAY. OK. My thought would be that it is more likely for someone to forget the "2" in the description than to (twice) stick in a division by 2 in the script for no reason. (Once when the duration is calculated and also in the comments at the top of the script.) So in that respect, I would say change the description. However, it might make more sense to look at how this spell balances out against other spells (particularly the other charm spells), and choose the duration that gives the best balance. If you are going to make changes anyway, you don't have to bind yourself to what BioWare intended. But up to you what your goals are. --The Krit 02:57, November 9, 2011 (UTC)
