I thought the bonus to attack rolls against prone characters was only if the attacker wielded a melee weapon. I vaguely remember ranged characters getting a penalty against attacking a prone character. Harleyquin

You are absolutely right. You get a -4 penalty to attack for range attacking characters against a charater that is prone (knockdown). For melee, you get a bonus. -- Chrominium 14:38, 29 Oct 2005 (PDT)

• Like any any effect, the duration depends on how it is applied. (You might as well ask how long an AC bonus lasts.) The only special thing for prone is that the animations dictate a minimum of something like 3 seconds. --The Krit (talk) 21:43, August 30, 2015 (UTC)
