Rename: Arcane Spell Failure[]
Should this be renamed to Arcane Spell Failure? Armor uses this term but I am not sure if it is appropriate (ie does it only apply to arcane spells? Is the use of spell failure seperate to that of arcane spell failure?) or whether there needs to be a seperate term. Enigmatic 02:42, 19 Oct 2005 (PDT)
- As indicated in the article, spell failure can occur for other reasons besides armor, like failing a Concentration check. It doesn't only apply to arcance spells. However, I think we should also have an article for arcane spell failure, because that's the official term used for armor. -- Austicke 03:54, 19 Oct 2005 (PDT)
- Agreed. Although becareful that ceratin categories/topics aren't thinned out too much as I've noticed that some things are starting to get confusing with new articles on not so major things. Maybe 'Arcane Spell Failure' should be in the armor article than having one of its own? -- Chrominium 06:58, 19 Oct 2005 (PDT)
- I've pointer the link of Arcane Spell Failure to Spell Failure (there was only one in the armor template). I now don't see any reason why we need another article that says near enough the same thing thing as Spell Failure, although there should probably be a note? -- Chrominium 09:35, 2 Nov 2005 (PST)
- Weird thing happening here! On the wanted pages 'Arcane Spell Failure' has 14 links at #2, but I've already changed the template to point to Spell failure so the links don't go to a blank page anymore. So why is it still on the most wanted pages? -- Chrominium 04:57, 3 Nov 2005 (PST)
Auto-silent[]
I've asked this before on the forums but couldn't get a definitive reply. If casters have auto-silent spells will they still be subject to the arcane spell failure if deafened or silenced? Harleyquin 11:34, 7 Dec 2005 (PST)
- I havent tested this but my logic would dictate it as this: auto-silent spells are casts as if the spell(s) have no verbal component, which means both silenced and defeaned will have no arcane spell failure as nothing needs to be said (only movement if a somatic component is needed). Still, knowing the way the aurora engine works, it will, so needs some testing I guess. Can you test it H? -- Chrominium
- Don't have the toolset with me now and even if I did I never really figured out how to use it. Hopefully someone else will be able to conduct the test to verify my question. Harleyquin 15:59, 7 Dec 2005 (PST)
