Spellcraft and hardiness Edit
Does anyone know, do the bonuses to saves from Strong Soul, Spellcraft and Hardiness vs Spells all work correctly together? I couldn't see the +1 to a save vs death working in a recent game: a Dwarf with Strong Soul and a modified Spellcraft level of 10 was getting +4 to his save, rather than the +5 I expected. --22.214.171.124 21:03, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- Why were you expecting +5? On what basis are you figuring +4? (Is that +4 compared to what is on the character sheet or something else?) What were you saving against? --The Krit (talk) 02:36, January 27, 2014 (UTC)
- It looks ok to me. Are you sure that the save versus death was fortitude? Though most spellbook death spells seem to require fortitude saves, some common monster death abilities require will saves.
- I just did two little tests with a dwarven mage: Level 8 wizard, 20 INT, 18 CON, 8 WIS, modified spellcraft 16, and the Strong Soul feat. He had no magical gear equipped and no save-enhancing buffs (e.g. protection from alignment) cast. The character sheet shows his fortitude save as +7 (+2 base +4 from CON +1 from Strong Soul), and will save +6 (+6 base -1 WIS +1 Strong Soul). Fighting a standard bodak, his will save versus the death gaze was +12. I would be expecting +12: base will +6 + 3 from spellcraft + 2 from dwarven Hardiness vs. Spells + 1 from Strong Soul vs Death Magic. Fighting a modified bodak with a death pulse attack, his fortitude save versus the Death Gaze was +13. I would be expecting +13: base fort +7 + 3 from spellcraft + 2 from dwarven Hardiness vs. Spells + 1 from Strong Soul vs Death Magic. - MrZork (talk) 19:46, January 27, 2014 (UTC)
