Darkness[]

Someone added the following note: "True Seeing will not aid Player Characters when under the effects of the Darkness spell." I thought True Seeing is the same as Ultravision in that it allows you to see through Darkness. Anyone know what was meant before I remove the note? -- Austicke 11:53, 18 Oct 2005 (PDT)

  • true seeing does in fact give true seeing this means that the darkness spell Does not affect the player therefore the player will not be flat footed and will not get minus 4 to attack rolls --193.60.199.37 25 April 2006
  • Nope. YOu still suffer the 50% conceal / attack fail mali even with true seeing. GhostNWN 05:05, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
  • That doesn't sound right Ghost. AFAIK, True Seeing (as well as Ultravision) does negate the miss chance from Darkness. Have you tested this out in a module without custom scripting as I know that many modules alter the spell.
Alright I just tested this out. True Seeing does negate the 50% concealment of Darkness. I'm removing the note. --Countess Terra 14:20, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
  • Ahh yes, the joys of playing on PWs :D GhostNWN 16:33, 25 April 2006 (PDT)
  • Based on the above discussion, put back in a note re: seeing through darkness, using the language of the darkness spell/effect pages.

Question for GhostNWN: the darkness (spell and effect) pages do not list a "50% conceal / attack fail." Is that missing from the darkness pages, or did you mean invisibility, or is that specific to the PWs you frequent? Thanks, Zenobia 21:30, 25 July 2006 (PDT)

Concealment[]

Does true seeing remove the concealment bonus provided by spells such as displacement? --189.29.8.4 20 October 2008

  • I am pretty sure it does not. I have played characters wearing items with the True Seeing property and I am certain I saw a lot of "target concealed" results from weapon attacks and spells. This is a good question and maybe worth a note on the article page, as it is on the concealment page. - MrZork 22:02, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
